Every child loves to create their own imaginary friend, and Build-A-Bear Workshop makes it easy on the parent's pocketbooks with special promotions and coupons.

The popular Build-A-Bear Workshop got off the ground in 1997, when Maxine Clark was inspired by her ten-year-old friend Katie, who suggested they make a stuffed animal, when she was unable to find one that she liked in a store. The initial store opened in St. Louis, Missouri, and has since grown to more than 400 stores across the world, with plans to have franchise owners open stores in every country.

The Workshops carry furry friends ranging from bears to stingrays. Clothing and accessories can be purchased to inspire the personalities or professions of the chosen friend. The cost of a made-to-order stuffed animal ranges from $10 bears and bunnies to a $25 gray wolf.

Promotions and the Stuff Fur Stuff Club

Visit the official Build-A-Bear Website where seasonal and monthly promotions are found. The most recent promotion was the child's choice of animal, hanging outfit and a pair of shoes for $29.99. While you are checking out the promotions, make sure to join the Stuff Fur Stuff Club. Members are rewarded with a single point for every dollar that is spent. When 100 points are reached, a $10 gift certificate is distributed. An added bonus of one and a half points is awarded to any purchases made during the birthday month, which also includes the birthday months of five additional family members. An in-store party adds 25 bonus points to the membership account, so points can add up quickly.

Build-A-Bear Printable and Paper Coupons

Often, coupons are found in the Sunday Smart Source newspaper insert. The coupons are usually for $5 off of a $10, or greater, make-your-own animal, and are limited to one per person. Look for new coupons a few days before the previous coupons expire. For instance, coupons were set to expire on August 31, and Smart Source offered a new coupon on August 30, with an expiration date of October 4th.

Build-A-Bear coupons are not often available for printing, as the company will not allow them to be posted on large Online sites such as RetailMeNot.com, although Dealigg.com has a few user contributed coupons listed.

A recent eBay listing was selling $10 gift certificates with a free bonus poster, for $1.50.

Build-A-Bear Coupon Codes

Coupon codes are frequently found on Couponheaven.com. Previous coupon codes have included discounts for $5 off $25 and $3 off $15. MyCoupons.com rates the effectiveness of coupon codes, with their most recent listing of $3 off a $15 or more purchase. Build-A-Bear birthday parties are always a hit with the party-goers, so join the Stuff Fur Stuff Club first and begin racking up points during the birthday month, or throw a party there for even greater savings. Enjoy!
