Dairy Queen's famous slogan, "We Treat You Right," fits the bill for their delightful food, as well as their promotions and savings.
Dairy Queen, also known as DQ, is a fast food restaurant chain that began in 1940. The introduction of the unique soft-ice-cream dessert, with a ten cent all-you-can-eat promotion, had customers clambering for more. Within ten years, Dairy Queens' humble beginnings spread from Kankakee, Illinois, to an explosion of franchises across the world, which now number more than 5,900 locations.
The International company is owned by Berkshire-Hathaway, Inc., and specializes in soft-serve ice cream products and sandwiches, including Dilly bars, Blizzards, Buster bars, MooLatte, GrillBurgers, all-beef hot dogs, malts, parfaits, ice cream cakes and shakes.
Finding Promotions and Discounts
A good place to start saving money at Dairy Queen is by joining the Blizzard Fan Club. All that is required during the sign-up process is the member's name, date of birth, gender, country of residence, zip code and their favorite Blizzard flavor. A coupon will be sent by e-mail, for a free 16 oz. Blizzard with the purchase of another. (Some club members have mentioned that they received the coupon for their birthdays, while others received them the day after they joined the club). Other promotions are offered by e-mail, and birthdays are recognized with a gift.
The Yahoo Deals site normally has up-to-date printable coupons, that are found under Local Store Coupons. Some coupons are location specific, while others are nationwide. Previous Dairy Queen offerings have been for a free waffle bowl sundae, $1.00 off a Blizzard, 1/2 off of any item, $4.00 off of an eight inch or larger cake, and a Peanut Buster Parfait for $2.49.
The Dairy Queen blog is host to specials and information about promotions. In one such deal, participants were asked to write a comment on the blog or create a blog post on what "deal you’d make with us to try our Sweet Deals for free," and then email the link to blog@idq.com. 250 people were chosen to receive gift cards, and the most imaginative-entry winner was awarded 52 Sweet Deal meals, one for every week of the year.
The Red Plum newspaper insert often has coupons. Their latest offerings include $1.00 off any Blizzard, any Moolatte, any waffle bowl sundae, and $3.00 off any DQ or Blizzard cake.
In 2009, Dairy Queen launched their value-menu Sweet Deals campaign. Nine items can be mixed and matched at a cost of $3.00 for two items, $4.00 for three items and $5.00 for four items. Create a combination from these nine items:
Cheeseburger
Hot dog
Chicken wrap
French fries
Onion rings
Salad
Beverage
Sundae
Cone
Grab coupons from the website, or just head to Dairy Queen to try their new Sweet Deals value menu. Always innovative, Dairy Queen has partnered with the Girl Scouts, so customers will find many new flavors and favorites, such as the Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie, Tagalongs and Oreo Cookie Blizzards. Enjoy!
