Father's Day Gifts from Teenagers on a Budget

Teens with Limited Cash Can Still Give Great Presents to Dad

Jun 2, 2009 Mary King

Money is an issue with most teenagers, even those who work. A teen can still pull off a fantastic gift for Father's Day; all it takes is a little thought and planning.

Like many other gift-giving occasions, Father's Day becomes an issue for teenagers low on money. The celebration does not have to put a dent in one's wallet. A little planning and thoughtful consideration of what Dad likes can still result in a great Father's Day celebration.

Budget Father's Day Gift Ideas

Who says a present has to cost a lot to be great? Creative thinking plus a positive attitude equals an abundance of great Father's Day gift ideas at low prices. Don't forget to add a Father's Day card or Father's Day e-card.

  • Gift Card/Certificate. These start around 10.00 and are offered by many popular businesses. Be sure to pick a place Dad likes, such as a favorite restaurant, hardware store or sporting goods store.
  • Movie Tickets or Rental. Treat Father to an afternoon at the theater to see his choice of a movie or rent a DVD to watch at home. Add popcorn and a few snacks for a great time!
  • Current Issue of a Favorite Magazine. Be it a sports magazine, auto publication, gardening or cooking issues, most any dad will appreciate the attention and respect for his particular interest.
  • Desk Stress Toy. Desk toys are usually on display at popular mall novelty shops and can also be purchased online. Examples include Rubik's Cube, Newton's Cradle, Zen Garden, stress balls, gravity figures, and many, many more.
  • Hobby or Collector Supplies. For hobbyists, supplies or tools make a smart purchase.
  • Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner Out. Be it McDonald's for breakfast or dinner at a steakhouse for prime rib, Dad will most likely enjoy a meal in honor of his special day.
  • Belt Buckle, Tie Clip, Cuff Links. Whatever the man's lifestyle demands, add elegance to his wardrobe with a tasteful accessory.
  • Personalized Tee Shirt. Malls sometimes feature tee shirt personalization for special events such as Father's Day.
  • Decorative License Plate. Express a clever message that can be displayed on the front of a car.

Free Gifts for Dad on Father's Day

Teens who are flat broke still have the means to give a special Father's Day gift.

  • Time Together. Nothing is more valuable to a parent than time spent with a child. Teens will leave home soon, heading for college or starting lives outside the home. Plan an afternoon of hanging out with Dad. Share time together at a favorite spot, watch a game on TV, check out a free concert, or work on a project at home.
  • Car Wash and Wax Job. A wash and wax job is always a good idea. Don't forget to clean and vacuum the interior.
  • Cutting the Grass. Most fathers would not mind getting out this chore. Get permission if needed before operating any type of mower.
  • Cookout. Give Dad a break from the grill and do the cooking for him. Most teens are responsible enough to manage hot dogs and hamburgers, but it's recommended that an adult be on hand to supervise grill activity if the event is going to be a Father's Day surprise.

Father's Day gifts at low cost are virtually endless. All one needs is imagination and a little creativity to come up with a great idea. From dinner and a movie to a car wash and time spent together, teens on a budget can celebrate Father's Day with top presents a parent can enjoy.
