Free Suze Orman Advice and $100 for Saving MoneyOprah's Financial Guru Offers Free Books and a Saving Incentive
Between Oprah Winfrey's "Money" segment and Ameritrade's "Save Yourself Account", people can immediately start improving their financial health with two free books.
Suze Orman is synonymous with responsible economic choices, and her advice can help people fulfill their new year's resolutions to save money, get out of debt, and plan for retirement. She routinely offers free books (as pdf files) for readers to download from Oprah's website, and Ameritrade has created a savings account that focuses on Orman's philosophy that people need responsible financial habits. Suze Orman BooksIt is worth bookmarking Oprah's Suze section, because Suze has offered great ideas more than once. Until January 15, 2009, Orman's new book, 2009 Action Plan: Keeping Your Money Safe and Sound will be available as a free pdf. This is not the first time Orman has made a book available for free; in 2008 people were able to download Women and Money at no cost. People who open a "Save Yourself" account at Ameritrade are also able to access Women and Money. The only restriction for the books is that the files may not be shared with other people. The free Suze Orman book downloads expire, but the books can be purchased at any major book retailer. Orman's books are easy and enjoyable to read, and she offers excellent "come to Jesus" advice about how readers can be honest about their finances and make responsible choices. She understands her core audience - women who want to be financially independent - and she writes for them. In Women and Money, Orman writes: "I've taken a realistic approach and come up with a strategy that anticipates the fatigue and fear and lack of determination." Not all of her advice applies to everyone - she has excellent ideas for people who are savvy about money and ready to make smart choices about saving and investing. Overview of 2009 Action Plan: Keeping Your Money Safe and Sound In Orman's earlier books, it is safe to say that not all of the advice applied to all of the readers, but her 2009 book is written for the many financially responsible people who are facing lay-offs and other unexpected money woes. In 2009 Action Plan, her financial forecast is "that we could be in for a long, slow period of recovery and it will be 2014 or 2015 before the economy is back in robust good heath." She is writing for the people who are facing new financial choices. She writes about how having an unused credit card reserved for emergency purposes is no longer the right choice, saying, "if you have no emergency savings fund, you are not being honest about considering and preparing for all the possibilities life may throw at you." Orman knows that people are going to make very human mistakes, but she expects people to correct their mistakes and make better choices. Free $100 "Save Yourself" Bonus from Ameritrade Ameritrade has a Orman-inspired "Save Yourself" account. Customers are required to make a $100 deposit for 12 months in a row. At the end of the year, Ameritrade will deposit a bonus $100 into the account. The "Save Yourself" account can help people better establish saving habits with the intention of investing the money. According to the Ameritrade's Save Yourself FAQ, the account is a "special competitive Money Market Deposit Account". More details about the account and the additional benefits are available at the Save Yourself banking site. Orman's books and advice are not just for women; the Ameritrade site also explains that the Save Yourself Plan with the $100 free bonus is designed for everyone. Women and Money: Owning the Power to Control Your Destiny (ISBN: 0385519311), by Suze Orman, was published in 2007 by Spiegel & Grau. Suze Orman's 2009 Action Plan: Keeping Your Money Safe and Sound (ISBN 0385530935), also by Suze Orman, was published in 2008 by Spiegel & Grau.
