James Maynard founded The Golden Corral in 1973, and set out to create the "biggest and best buffet and grill" in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The restaurant chain began with the trademark offering of all-you-can-eat sirloin steaks. With almost 500 locations in 38 states, Golden Corral buffets have a large following. Expect to pay roughly $12 per adult, which includes a drink and taxes. Children's meals are normally about $5 less.
The Golden Corral buffet is abundant with offerings that will suit each family member. The hot bar menu items include such foods as Asian pork roast, Bourbon Street chicken, salmon steak, Steak House steak, pork chops, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, pizza, shrimp and all varieties of cooked vegetable and bean dishes.
The cold bar offers a large selection of salads, fresh fruit, turkey strips and 15 different salad dressings.
A separate bar is reserved for baked potatoes and soup, and includes such favorites as broccoli cheese, chicken gumbo, clam chowder, Timberline chili and vegetable beef.
Last but not least, the Brass Bell Bakery items include no-sugar-added and sugar-free treats, a selection of breads, as well as apple pie, banana pudding, brownies, carrot cake, cookies, Key lime cheesecake, ice cream and a multitude of toppings. Many items arrive fresh out of the oven every 15 minutes.
Saturday and Sundays from 7:30 to 11:00, a breakfast buffet is available, and includes morning favorites such as bacon, eggs, pancakes, quiche, french toast, omelettes and hash browns.
Military Appreciation Monday Promotion
On November 16, 2009, for the ninth consecutive year, The Golden Corral will honor all U.S. Military, including those who are National Guard, reservists, retired or veterans, with a free meal during the hours of 5:00-9:00. Family and friends will be charged regular prices.
