Moms want the best for their families. With the holidays right around the corner, moms begin to look for ways to increase the amount of money coming into the household.

Holiday Shopping

Knowing how to earn extra money is important, whether it is for the holidays or any other time. The holidays present a unique situation. Holiday shoppers want to find the best gift for their recipient and most times that calls for spending money.

Ideas for Holiday Money

The recent economic situation creates many reasons for needing a little more spending money. Luckily the options are plentiful. Motivation and action is the key to success and money for the holidays. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Become a personal shopper for the holidays. Personal shoppers with the specific niche can create money for the holidays and possibly a part time job after the holidays. Savvy shoppers can even become a 'Present Return" shopper.
  • Contact small companies to see if they need assistance over the holidays with vacation fill-ins or increase in mail volume.
  • Mystery shopping is another great idea. There should never be a fee paid for signing up to do mystery shopping. Some great ones are Mysteryshop.org and Narms.com.
  • Sell unused or unwanted gold. Gold items that are taking up space in a jewelry box that are never used can be sold for extra money. There are even some companies that are doing "Gold Parties" similar to Party Plans.
  • Focus groups are a great way to give your opinion about a new product and make money while doing it. Large companies such as Procter and Gamble utilize market research for a lot of their new products and pay you for your time and travel.
  • Garage sales and eBay are ways to remove unused items from your closet. It's never too late in the season for a garage sale. eBay is similar to a virtual garage sale but keep in mind that you will need to charge for the product, shipping, boxes, etc to make it worth your while.
  • Share your gift with others. If you are a magician or can do face painting, consider marketing yourself for upcoming holiday parties.
  • Sell items at a craft fair. During the holidays there are many opportunities to see items at craft bazaars and holiday fairs.
  • Supplement income for the holidays by becoming a virtual assistant. Websites such as Elance.com or Odesk.com can help make a great income on a part time basis and may create an opportunity to become more.
  • Direct sales programs are very busy during the holidays. Chose from a variety of opportunities at dsa.org.
  • Decorate homes for the holidays. Many people would like to have their homes decorated but do not have the time or the ability to climb a ladder.

Set a Limit

Decide how much money is needed for the holiday shopping season. Work backwards to see how much money is needed each month. A smaller goal each week will make it easier to achieve the final goal.
