There are many ways to save money while shopping for gifts online. Follow these tips to save money and stick to a budget while still buying Christmas gifts.
Using Coupon Sites to Save Money
There are many coupon sites that will list any available coupons to online stores. Many are posted by users and have the most recent date of successful use.
Some effective coupon sites are
- Couponcabin.com - often has more than 22,000 stores with valid coupons at any one time.
- Shopping-bargains.com – Shopping-bargains has been around since 1999.
- Retailmenot.com – retailmenot has over 40,000 stores in its database with possible coupons.
To find a coupon for a specific store, enter the store where the desired gift is into the Google search engine, along with the word “coupon” and many coupon choices should come up. Example: Enter “target coupon” into the Google search engine. Thousands of options come up for Target coupons.
Use a Rebate Website to Save Money Shopping Online
Shop from a rebate website and money will be deposited into an account in the users name. When the user reaches a certain amount, the money will be sent to them in a check or PayPal balance.
The user must first sign up for an account on the rebate website. This is usually very quick and only minimal information such as name and email address is required. Sites that send a rebate check will require a mailing address. When using a rebate website, it is very important to enter the store’s website where the purchase will be made, from the rebate website. For example, go to ebates.com and search for Target. When Target comes up in the Store Name Search Results, click on Shop Now. The user will be taken to the Target website to make their purchase and their rebate money will be placed in their Ebates account.

Not all stores offer rebates. Open free accounts at several rebate websites and check between them to see which one offers the highest rebate amount. Often the percentage offered will change from one day to the next so it's always best to check among several rebate websites.
Example: Ebates is currently offering a 4% rebate for Target. Mrrebates is currently offering a 4% rebate for Target. Rebatezone is currently offering a 3% rebate at Target. These are subject to change at any time so it’s best to always check several rebate sites to see who is offering the best rebate for where the user wants to shop.
Use Email Subscriber Lists to Find Coupons
Get on the email list for desired stores. Many stores will send out special coupons to subscribers of their email list. Check emails for any special holiday sales or coupons.
