Over the years the love affair between technology and mankind have done quite a bit of damage to our environment, but what if we could learn to help out our environment, while saving money in the process? When people begin to incorporate innovative money saving tips in their everyday lives, such as, the ones that will be described in this article; they will not only help out the environment, but put some of that hard earned cash back into their wallets as well.

Innovative Budgeting Tips

Toilet paper is expensive, but let’s face it, it is one of those necessities that people need to buy. But what if we could make it last longer? On average toilet paper can cost around $8 per 12 rolls at a specialty store that is cost effective. One way to stretch your dollar indefinitely is to buy 2 ply toilet paper and separate the paper, so you use only one ply at a time. This will make it last a lot longer. On average a person who does this could save about $48 a year if they practiced this method alone.

Another way for avid penny pinchers to incorporate innovative money saving tips is to reuse cooking oil. How many times have you used almost a third of the cooking oil to fry French fries and threw away the oil because you thought that it was no longer any good? What about taking the oil and straining it to clean it and store it in a separate container to fry French fries again at a later time. Now don’t get too carried away with saving money, using it twice is plenty.

Ladies and gentlemen, how about getting haircuts or hair done only every 6 weeks compared to every month? Depending on how much one spends will determine how much money is saved in a year. For instance, a woman can save an average of $120 a year at $30 per session. Men can save up to $40 a year at $10 per session.

Remember the good ole days when the economy was A -Okay and people in the office wanted to go out to eat for lunch? Well, times have changed quite a bit since then, and now people have become more conscious about the ways they spend money. So what do people do? People have started bringing their lunches to work. On average a person can spend about $5 per lunch if they go to a fast food joint; more if they go to a fancy restaurant.

An average work week is 5 days a week and let’s say a person goes out for lunch 5 times a week. That is $25 a week, just on lunch alone. If that same person cut back on eating out for lunch 2 times a week, they would save an average of $15 a week, which adds up to $60 a month and $720 a year. Wow, now that is some serious moolah!

Help the Environment

What about those sack lunches you take to work with you? Another great way one can incorporate money saving tips is by saving those left over zip lock baggies. Save them and reuse them for the next sack lunch. This alone will save some money, especially with these costing as much as they do. On average these little suckers cost about $4 per package, for about 24 of them. If one reused them this could save not only time, but money as well. Saving these can also save a lot of hassle in the morning when one is running late for work and can’t find anything to put their food in because they carelessly tossed them in the trash the day before. If a person limits how often they buy them, they help out the environment by creating less waste, which is a key component of green living.

By limiting the use of paper towels people can incorporate money saving tips by only using a few rolls of paper towels each month. People can use different dish rags and alternate using them so they do not use so many paper towels. On average each roll of paper towels costs about $2 per roll. Instead of spending loads of money on paper towels, only buy one roll every 2 weeks. This will save you about $8 a month, and adds up to $96 a year, which is some substantial savings.

Environmentally Friendly Spa Treatment

People can make their own at home beauty products, this is not only environmentally friendly, but an innovative money saving technique as well. A body scrub at a high-end beauty store can cost about $40 for a medium sized tub. An average person would probably use this at least once every week, which adds up to a person purchasing this product about every 2 months. A person can save up to $240 a year by making their own! One excellent recipe is a homemade body scrub. Combine about ½ cup of sugar and 1 cup of baby oil and this will be a luxurious high quality exfoliating spa treatment.

When people use some of these innovative money saving strategies and environmentally friendly techniques in their everyday lives they will be doing good for mankind. They will also have money to put into their savings account. Now, who would have thought that saving money could be fun and good for the environment at the same time?
