Save hard-earned money with printable coupons & coupon inserts. Start today with a simple strategy. Learn about SmartSource, RedPlum, P&GbrandSAVER, printable coupons.

Saving money is sometimes easier than making money. Using coupons is a simple, sure-fire way to save money that requires a little up-front planning and perseverance. Before getting started saving money with coupons, beginning couponers must first learn where to get coupons. After that, they may wish to get their feet wet by targeting select coupon deals at first.

Two Ways to Get Coupons: Newspaper Coupon Inserts and Printable Coupons

Newspaper coupon inserts. In the United States, the Sunday edition of a local paper should contain coupon inserts. Coupons are commonly from Valassis, Smart Source, and RedPlum. Additionally, large companies like Procter & Gamble (look for the P&GbrandSAVER insert) and Unilever often have special coupon inserts for their products.

Printable coupons. Many manufacturers offer coupons online that can be printed at home and used in stores. A printed coupon should have a barcode that can be scanned at checkout just like any other coupon. Printable coupons are available on coupon websites (like RedPlum) and directly from product manufacturers.

How to Combat the Urge to Go Overboard in Saving Money with Coupons: Narrow the Focus and Get Help Locating Coupon Deals

Here is a simple strategy for keeping it simple in the early days:

  • Don’t get too caught up in trying to get the absolute best deals on every single item on every visit to the store. At first, pick a few frequently consumed products and either write down or commit to memory the retail price and typical sales prices.
  • When those products are on sale, check to for unexpired coupons to use in conjunction with that sale. Savings at or above a 50% on something normally purchased anyway is an excellent deal.
  • Continue to watch out for deals on personal "staples" and buy like crazy when good deals come around on those items. This is very satisfying and goes a long way towards building a couponer’s knowledge.
  • Use someone else’s research skills to identify coupon deals. Take advantage of a service like the Grocery Game to reduce time spent matching coupons with sales to a minimum. Simply log in one or more times per week to print off store lists and only purchase items that are at least 50% savings after sales & coupons.

After beginning couponers get the hang of the coupon game with the simple strategy above, saving money with coupons becomes much easier.
