During tight financial times, it is nice to know that the popular restaurant chain, Red Lobster, entices seafood lovers with specials, coupons and birthday gifts.

Red Lobster was named the "Best Seafood Chain" by Restaurants & Institutions Consumers' Choice in Chains study, and is endorsed by Zagat. Additionally, the chain was honored as the "best sit-down chain restaurant in America," by Men's Health magazine.

The initial restaurant was opened by Bill Darden in 1968, in Lakeland, Florida. The restaurants grew quickly in number, after the company was acquired by General Mills. There are currently over 700 Red Lobster restaurants in the United States, Canada and Japan. Many patrons are repeat customers looking for for the taste of wood-fired freshness, and the mouth-watering Cheddar Bay Biscuits, made from a biscuit dough mixed with cheddar cheese, and coated with a buttery garlic sauce. The restaurant offers fresh seafood, chicken, NY strip steak, lobster pizza and dessert, including the well-loved warm chocolate chip lava cookie.

Red Lobster's Facebook fan page welcomes fans with recipes, special offers and promotions, not found anywhere else.

After sign-up, an entry is automatically placed in a monthly drawing, that awards the winners with a dinner for two, home delivery of a fresh lobster dinner or a vacation. Previous vacation winners were awarded trips to Costa Rica, San Diego, Hawaii, Boston Harbor, the Nonatum Resort in Kennebunkport, ME, Historic Lighthouse Inn and a New England cruise.

After the enrollment, an invitation will arrive that encourages the sign-up of friends. For each referral, an entry will be made that provides the opportunity to win a $100 Red Lobster gift card, during the monthly giveaway. Fresh Catch members will also receive special promotional notifications, as well as birthday coupon savings. The Fresh Catch Club email also contains links, for entry into other sweepstakes.
