» Shelley Elmblad - Doug Wants a New Identity - BD (Budgetin' Doug)

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:

I have always heard many good things about Quicken. I would appreciate a copy of Quicken so that I can manage my personal budget more carefully and be prepared for filing my taxes without all the extra paper shuffle. With three children now out of college or trade schools, I need to budget our finances and loan payments more effectively .

» Shelley Elmblad - Deb Wants the Details Organized in One Place

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:

At this present time I do not have Quicken. After reading both the Personal budgeting features and looking at the website, I really could use the organizing all my account features. I like the idea that I can download transactions from most financial institutions. This would organize my finances into 1 spot and they could be very easy to keep track of. I also love the idea of entering my mortgages, stocks, mutual funds etc with Quicken. I would love the idea of having everything in one place instead of having so many individual papers floating all over my home office. I can only dream of clicking open the Quicken File and looking at every thing in 1 place and organized. It truthfully sounds wonderful. With being a busy working parent...organization can be difficult at times when you are being pulled into many directions. The idea of 1 place to have all your own personal financial information at your fingertips is amazing.

I hope that I am lucky enough to get picked. I am amazed at what Quicken can offer.

I really like the financial control that Quicken gives me. Coupled with the ability to access my bank accounts on line, I am in control like never before.

» Shelley Elmblad - Saving Diva Wants to Dive in to Quicken

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:
I would love to enter your contest for the Quicken Deluxe. I do not have Quicken, and I have never used a personal finance software program. I currently use Excel for my budget, but I have to input my spending manually.
I would like the networth reporting. I currently calculate it for my blog (http://savingforhome.blogspot.com) every month using networth IQ. I think it would be great to be able to track my expenses by category (and see where I really spend all of my money).
Thanks!
P.S. I really like your blog. I found it at the Personal Finance Carnival.

» Shelley Elmblad - Ashok is not Enjoying the Sunset

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:

I am using Quicken program from "DOS"version. Currently I have 2004 Deluxe. Quicken itself as a "great" and even "wonderful" program except with Intuit's sunset policy. The online quicken feature I can't live without is downloading stock/mutual fund quotes but to sell out $60 every third year seems bit much with slightly few improvements in program. So for now I am downloading quotes from yahoo finance and importing in Quicken. It's little bit extra work but I can live with it.

Having said above the good part of Quicken is at year end tax information. It does not take too much time for me to be ready to prepare and file the return.

All the other features of the program mainly the check / savings / credit card accounts are easy to maintain and gives up to date information about it. I do the manual entry for all my transactions and then reconcile with statements. This way I know if the problem arises then where and who is to blame for. In my opinion by downloading from the online accounts in Quicken is bad since one losses checks and balance control.

The other great feature that I like is the Retirement planner and cash forecasting. This has proved to be a very valuable tool for me. The budget feature is good and I do create and check to see how I am performing with my expenses. With this tool it gives me instantaneous information on spending habits.

Well if I am a lucky winner of 2007 Quicken deluxe then may be till 2010 I can download quotes and assets breakup for my portfolio.

» Shelley Elmblad - Russ Looks Into the Crystal Ball

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:

Thanks for the chance to win a copy of quicken Deluxe.

The best feature that I like is the method of keeping track of your current bank balance along with the capability of looking into the future. Once you have all of your normal expenses inputted into Quicken and you have entered the future payments due into the register, you can with a glance see how your total is running. It helps you answer whether you should spend money on something that you really don't need.

» Shelley Elmblad - Frank May be a Money Defecter

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:

I use Money now and I am happy except that the Budgeting reports and tracking leaves a lot to be desired. It seems like Quicken does a much better job in this area.

Thanks

» Shelley Elmblad - Elizabeth Wants it all Summarized

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:

I used to use Quicken 98. My primary bank account didn't allow downloading of transactions at the time, and eventually that version of quicken stopped being allowed to download from my credit cards either. Eventually I abandoned it, but I did like to see all the historical info (great for predicting how much I would spend on things based on the previous year).

The new version of Quicken Deluxe 2007 looks to have much better summaries and connectivity. I'd love to try it and see where all my money goes.

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:

My wife is a writer, Mom, chef and full-time employee. I, sadly, am on workman's comp so it has become my task to organize and budget! Help!

I am just learning the computer and my wife says that QUICKEN is an amazing program. To be able to get a copy to use without paying the price - THAT would not only help the budget, but I will be able to impress my wife with my newfound budgeting and bill paying skills!

PLEASE! And, thank you!

In response to Responses from Win Free Quicken Contest posted by yooperz:

I have had one form of Quicken since the days of Dos and Love it. The best thing I like about Quicken is I can balance my checking account, Credit card account, and brokerage account all over the internet with one click of a mouse.
